The first sovereign was issued during the reign of Henry VII in 1489. A rare and valuable coin, there are many others of more recent vintage from Georgian and Victorian times and into the 20th century. A sovereign dated 1920 and minted in Sydney was sold at auction in June 2021 for $1,020,000 Australian Dollars.
Standard Sovereigns, Krugerrands, Britannias, USA Dollars, Mexican Pesos and similar gold coins or medallions which are of no interest to collectors will be worth their bullion value. As bullion dealers, the amount we would pay for such coins could be as much as 40% more than compared to the amount you might receive when selling at auction.
